When vacationing in Emerald Isle, a day trip to the historic maritime town of Beaufort is a must. Its unique charm and ambiance draws visitors again and again to its beautiful waterfront and its tree-lined streets. Any time of the year is a great time to visit Beaufort, NC but wintertime is especially exciting.
Saturday, December 14 offers the ideal opportunity to take full advantage of a day in Beaufort. In addition to its usual charm, visitors get a glimpse into the historic homes, inns, and bed and breakfasts of the area decked out for the season, as well as art receptions and open houses at many of the downtown locations. Let's take a closer look on what's going on in beautiful Beaufort-by-the-Sea in mid December.

Beaufort ArtWalk Enjoy a festive day in Historic Downtown Beaufort, and celebrate the season with art receptions and open houses at many downtown locations. A wide variety of art from regional artists will be showcased throughout many of the downtown shops, galleries and restaurants. The Art Walk is from 1-5PM and will begin at The Beaufort Historic Site, 130 Turner St.
The Beaufort ArtWalk begins at the town's historic site located on 130 Turner Street. Maps are available throughout the town in participating locations. Featured galleries on the tour include Sea Islands Center Gallery, BASEcamp Gallery, Beaufort Pics, Atelier on Bay, Rhett Gallery and the Beaufort Art Association.
Beaufort Candlelight Homes Tour After the ArtWalk, continue spending the evening in Beaufort as the historic homes in the area open their doors and invite you to step back in time and enjoy the holiday hospitality of the season. The Beaufort Historical Association’s annual Christmas Candlelight Tour will be held on Saturday, December 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The tour showcases Beaufort’s southern hospitality and provides a rare glimpse into several private historic homes, inns, bed & breakfasts, and churches that are decorated for the holiday season. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased in advance online at www.beauforthistoricsite.org or by visiting the Beaufort Historic Site Welcome Center at 130 Turner Street. Tickets, tour maps, and information on the homes will also be available the day of in the Welcome Center.
The Beaufort Candlelight Homes Tour includes stops at the Beaufort Inn, Old Seaport Inn, Ann Street Inn, Inlet Inn, and the Josiah Bell House. Also included on the tour is the Ann Street Methodist Church which features special holiday music for your listening pleasure. Private homes are also on the tour as you stroll the candlelit streets. Join carolers on the English double-decker bus for a free ride to the destinations. Tickets for the tour are $20 and are available at the Beaufort Historic Site.
